Chapter 38: Demise
I was so proud of my horn, because it was my actual mouth. If I had managed to stick it into an opponent, I could have sucked them dry and empty in seconds.
It was so perfect and funny for a unicorn.
But I never got to use it.
As soon as I set hoof on the floor of the barn, it turned into a bowl and then a funnel and I began to fall down into it, with the flying boars above me, circling.
I don’t think I could accurately describe how utterly terrifying this was while also using the names of what we looked like or what was happening. But I’ll try.
I noticed the warped space of the barn and slowly began to register what was happening, and then I saw the dark hairy bulks moving around me, making disturbing noises. Snorts, squeals, and the leathery creak and flap of flexing wings accompanied the sudden sensation of gravity seriously warping spacetime and causing my hooves to slide out from under me.
My haunches hit the muddy ground first, and slid through it toward the center of the space. And since my reflex had been to rear up, I went nose over ass backward, legs flailing above me, and the back of my head smacked a rock that just happened to be there.
But these were just the physical sensations meant to disorient and distract me. They did no real harm other than lay me prone and draw me to the center of the slaughter box.
And the world around me expanded, making me very, very small, surrounded by a ballet of teratovores.
And then I reacted.
I didn’t really think. I didn’t have time to think. I knew I was already losing, caught in someone else’s domain. I just reached for the most successful form I’d ever taken, the black cloud of tiny compound eyeballs, but with that added addition of a proboscis for each one.
And I did my best to fill the ever growing space with myself, so there was no place to get away from me, and no way to box me in.
I grew so fast, injecting the domain with every quantum of myself from the Strands.
But it didn’t work.
I felt myself buffeted and churned by the wing beats of the boars as they circled me, braying and croaking, and I was pushed into myself by the whirlwind. And, of course, the ever warping scale and weight of the place outpaced me.
Something about it was extra disorienting, and it took me a few moments after realizing I couldn’t find purchase to figure it out.
I felt like I was in a kaleidoscope, tumbling, with images of myself overlapping, being chopped up by some fundamental force of the universe itself that I’d never encountered before. And it was only a matter of time before portions of myself were divided up and snorted into oblivion by these monsters.
There was no longer any light, only me and the intersecting prisms of reality.
Trying to make sense of it, I recalled what I’d seen as I’d fallen into the trap. Twelve winged boars circling in lockstep, flapping alternatively in a wave that rotated counter to their movement. Clockwise against counterclockwise.
The shards of space I was now inhabiting were doing something very similar. The same kind of movement and dance.
I wasn’t caught in one domain! I was caught in twelve domains simultaneously!
This was very bad.
Obviously, I’d never experienced anything like this before, because if I had I wouldn’t have existed to experience it then. I would have been killed. I generally tried to stay out of shit like this, and had had a seven hundred and forty some million year track record of being very good at it.
To say I was humiliated by the experience would have understated the situation beyond description.
But I didn’t have time for pride. I had to escape, and for a few pulses of consciousness I worked at it mindlessly, scrabbling feebly and desperately at the bounds of all reality around me.
After a bit, though, I realized the monsters weren’t attacking me. They weren’t bothering to try to eat me. And I wondered if they hadn’t figured out how, yet. I knew that if they tried in the ways I’d been attacked before, I could turn it around on them. And maybe I had a reputation that scared them.
Which then gave me enough calmness to remember that I’d just eaten a carpedominator, and now knew how to adopt that adaptation.
Ah.
One little adaptation, without even a physical change. It was coming so easy to me now. Especially one that I had the memory of using before, even if it wasn’t my own memory. Such a shortcut.
A little self origami of waves in my own energy and I was able to lash out in twelve directions and corrupt all twelve domains to make them mine.
And that was my undoing.
I should have guessed what was going on. The way that Chord had fed me such a vulnerable carpedominator earlier, stroking my confidence while giving me a crucial skill. And the way these boars were so identical and so adept at coordinating not only their movements but the complex interplay of their domains, disguising them and letting me into them without my notice in the first place.
It was all spelled out before me, and I just hadn’t read it.
Because it wasn’t my wheelhouse.
I may have been able to eat other monsters, but in my heart and my sheer mass of experience and honed reflexes I was not a teratovore.
My size and my complexity didn’t save me.
Cackling with glee at turning the tide on my captors, I seized their domains and gripped them, bringing their dance to a halt.
But just as I took a moment to decide what to do next, they wheeled in synchronicity, lowered their heads, and charged, sinking their tusks, their own proboscides right into my very mind.
And I knew such pain.
And, unlike Felicity, they didn’t hold back.
It was over in less than a second.
Because, what happens when a carpedominator tries to take a domain? They make that domain a part of their own psyche and start to draw the owning emanant into their own being. It’s how they feed.
And, normally, I would have been able to use their domains against them, to keep them from making the distance to charge me.
Except, their own domains were now me. All they had needed to do was pierce the fabric of those domains.
And the real crux of it was that they were carpedominators, too. And when a carpedominator attacks the domain of another carpedominator, which I had no idea about, apparently it just becomes a force of wills.
I was huge, but I was outnumbered twelve to one. And I hadn’t known what was coming. I barely even saw it happen, and I had less than a second of awareness to make sense of it when it did. And that time was spent in the deepest agony I had ever known.
The boars grew very fat, very fast.
---
“The livestock ate her,” came the next message, remarkably quick on the heels of the last one. “She’s gone.”
He’d hardly had time to visualize the different ways his trap could play out after that. Synthia had been so wily that he’d expected her to best his livestock, but not unscathed. Sewer Teeth should have had time to use the drain carefully placed and concealed beneath where she had been held, in order to deliver the coup de grace itself.
But obviously he’d overestimated her.
What a wonderful relief.
The city was his again.
It was a little bit of a shame, though. Without Sewer Teeth eating the last bite of her, all her memories were gone forever. The livestock hadn’t been configured to do that. He couldn’t risk them getting that smart.
Such a treasure, destroyed.
Oh, well.
---
Greg may have been speeding.
He may have, in fact, been speeding through a school zone.
Normally he never even came close to doing that. He’d learned how to drive from his dad, who had been the most careful driver anyone had ever known. And he’d inherited his dad’s rock solid nerves, and used them on the road every moment he was behind the wheel.
But, lately, life had gone beyond even his family’s legendary endurance. Synthia’s nightmare storm of last night had shaken him so deeply that now the wheel of his truck itself shook him whenever he gripped it.
And in his panicked desperation to get to Cassy, he’d forgotten to compensate for that.
And now he was waiting for a police officer to finish running his plates before coming up to tell him the bad news that had the worst timing ever. It would be a big ticket. The first in his life. When he had no income.
And he didn’t think he could contest this one.
The school zone light was visibly flashing on the sign across the street.
He’d made a legitimate mistake.
He texted Ayden to let him know he was being detained.
---
Ayden pushed his phone toward Charlie again, with sleep ridden and pained eyes, asking, “Could you drive me there? I think we need to hurry.”
---
Milk was pleased with itself.
It had learned a neat trick from a tiny organism a long, long time ago, and now it was going to use that trick.
It was its favorite trick, even though it so rarely had had the opportunity to use it.
After it had snagged the very last morsel of Synthia from underneath Chord’s livestock, it had used the property’s overdone network of sewer-like piping to find a safe place to message the master of this trap with an update, using the memories it had acquired from eating Sewer Teeth to spoof its identity.
Chord had praised it. The ruse had worked.
And fooling Chord wasn’t even its trick.
Then it left entirely for more familiar territory where it could address what it had done and make new plans.
Having originally manifested as a physics eater had given Milk so many delightful options for being sneaky. It loved being sneaky.
---
When it was all over, Chord returned to his property to survey the aftermath and to set up his domain again.
He traveled there as a very small worm riding a mount that looked something like a hawk. He could change his size at will, but he couldn’t truly change his own shape. Despite the fact that he could sculpt and reconfigure other emanants, he still hadn’t figured out that trick for himself.
What he did to others was invasive and altered an emanant at a deep and fundamental level. It often changed their memories. And he couldn’t adapt that to himself without changing the way he thought and behaved, and he couldn’t allow that.
All that he could safely do was change his apparent size.
Which was fine. He was so very content as he was.
But what he found when he approached his ranch threatened that contentment and gave him disquiet.
Sewer Teeth was missing, and so were his livestock.
Bremerton, the dog, was still there, napping on the porch. And so were Bremerton's keepers, Chordate jr. and Kate Montgomery, the current humans who legally owned the property for him.
And when he confronted them in their living room about what had happened, they reported that Sewer Teeth had not spoken to them since he, Chord, had set the trap and left the farm. And when they had seen the unicorn attack the barn and allow the livestock to escape, they had been powerless to stop it.
They did tell him that the livestock looked bigger than before and had flown off in a flock toward Mount Hood.
This was all he ever expected of them, so he thanked them and went about reestablishing his domain in the attic.
The livestock could be tracked down or replaced.
The absence of Sewer Teeth was more worrisome, but flying into a panic or rage about it would only put him at a disadvantage.
He needed to think, and he needed more intelligence.
He could do the former just fine, and he had servants and agents all over the county for the latter.
So, once he was settled, he sent out commands and instructed his remaining forces to fill the vacuum in Gresham before the common thralls and peasantry could return.
Despite his major losses, one benefit of all of this was that he'd have a stronger grip on the county seat, and he could now build a stronger foundation for his long term goals.
The hardest part would be replacing Fate Vine. Overlords with its talents weren’t exactly rare, but very few were ever as cooperative as it had been.
At least he no longer had any local enemies to worry about, besides maybe a rogue Sewer Teeth.
Hm.
Had Sewer Teeth lied to him? Had it successfully consumed Synthia and gained the adaptations she’d collected?
Did Sewer Teeth now think it could rival him?
That would prove amusing.
Still, it would be a good idea to start laying the groundwork to trap it now.
He sent out messages to his Portland contacts to start the politicking necessary for an idea he had.

today yielded 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I'm feeling really good!! I just don't do it more often because of the boredom factor 🤭🤭🤭🤭, it's a bit of work to stand still and change the movement of my hands and feet, so I take a short break between one session and another so I don't go crazy
Btw, another question: today I didn't affirm much robotically or out loud, not because I empowered negative thoughts, but because I simply didn't have thoughts of doubt. Don't there were a few moments where I thought "ah, that wasn't a good thought, better to affirm otherwise", most of the day it felt like I was so immersed in what I was doing and thinking that there was no time left to doubt, so I thought and I was already doing psych-k again, is that a good sign?
im glad to hear today's went well!!! and aGh yeah-- psych-k for multiple sessions can be tiring. here's a tip! you can affirm usin' your whole brain while movin' too (psych-k on the move pretty much)--
let me see if I can find a video for ya buT it's pretty much tai chi with your hands. one hand is 'waxing on' (hand is going around clockwise) the other hand is 'waxing off' (hand is moving counterclockwise) ya do this simultaneously to activate both sides of your brain. skip to 1:39 !!!
ya can also do the crosscrawl !!! (ya can choose one of the sequences the instructor does for one 'session' if you'd like)
oh and walking works tooooooo
keep in mind these are just suggestions, ya don't need to do them but they all grant results regardless :D
hm... maybe I should make a post about brain exercises bLeGh
to answer your question: rejoice!!! that is definitely a good sign!!! a spectacular fuckin' sign to be completely honest, don't be surprised if yer manifestations start poppin' up in the 3D soon 🕵️

She’s always been terrible at hiding things from her siblings, so instead of dragging this out with a silly scheme or scavenger hunt like when they were younger, Serval merely does her best to catch Gepard when there’s a lax in guard duty.
❝ Heya, Gep! ❞ Excitement is noticeable in her voice, practically bouncing upon her heels while holding something behind her back before the inevitable, ❝ Ta-da! ❞ is exclaimed as she presents a closed mechanical flower in her hands. Her eyes dart from her brother to the button on the base of the mechanism, eager for him to press it.
When pushed a faint melody, a song their mother used to sing to them, plays out while the flower slowly rotates clockwise. As it moves it gradually begins to open and when fully ’bloomed’ a picture of Landau siblings spins counterclockwise in the middle. Once it finally unfurls, Serval gives a delighted laugh in both the execution and the reason behind it.
❝ Happy birthday, Bro! ❞
There had never been a time where his sister’s talent for refining the mundane & uninspired designs of others into something new & interesting had not been awe-inspiring, it was just, with age, he had versed himself in not expressing it as openly. what other’s dithered before, either for unconvincing ethical reasons or out of sheer ignorance, she took up with a determination that made them look impotent & unimaginative. He knew the ways they handled her ingenuity had been governed by antiquated beliefs & dread for what may arise in the wake of her brilliance. How he wished he had declared his stance on it a time far sooner than this. still, his eyes, intense & pristine blue, are alight with abundant curiosity, even his countenance, tempered to be solemn, could not conceal the childlike wonder that rose in her wake. “ Serval, what are you doing out here ? ” his question did not possess the authority of an interrogator but rather, inquisitive, discernment of her intent was already quite obvious. she did not allow a single birthday to go uncelebrated, for his sake she preserved the tradition vehemently. Enthusiasm moves in tandem with her ebullient stride, her hands which hide furtively behind her back only furthering his suspicion. lithe hands reveal the treasure she had cradled within them, the mechanical flower is a spectacle to behold, minute, intricate parts which rotate simultaneously in a way so intriguing as to convince the beholder it was almost organic. the thin stem branches off into exquisite leaves, each tiny detail so ornate as to be inconceivable upon first glance, it would take one, two, three more to even begin to fathom it. He doesn’t realize he had been rendered inert for a moment, as if he had been holding his breath before its splendor. Serval looks upon him with anticipation as if she were coaxing him into pushing the button at its base, he relents and presses the pad of his index finger onto the gilded button, it sinks further into the mechanism. All at once the artistry of it comes to life, slowly, unfurling, as if it were a prosperous flower now, life breathed into its once somnolent petals. the song, it was so sentimentally familiar as to cause his chest to ache, it were as if he were once again sitting in his mother’s lap and she was easing her willowy fingers through his golden curls, humming softly. As it blooms the photographic rendition of the landau siblings revolves in the center, as if it were the stamen of the flower. Gepard was so riveted by it, profoundly moved, as to be stunned to silence until his sister’s delighted laugh anchored him back in that moment. “ Serval ━ you made this ? ” it was not that he was astonished by her talent but it had taken his breath away, a moment suspended in time where the three landau siblings were all flashing their perfect teeth in wide grins. “ I never doubted your ingenuity but this, to have made something like this.” tentatively he takes it from her, the gentleness incongruous to one who fought so fervently on the frontlines. “ I couldn’t not hope to find words enough to express my gratitude.” the smile he wore now did not compare to the one in the photo, it was subtle, but still so very genuine. “ thank you, Serval. ” for not just this cherished moment but all of those that had come before & all that might come after.
#that's his big sister !!!! look how cool she is !!!#this made me sob a little he loves her.#。 ‧͙*̩̩❆ ✧ in character ‚ ⁱᵗ'ˢ ʷⁱⁿᵗᵉʳ﹐ ʸᵒᵘ ᵃˢᵏ ᵐᵉ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ᵃⁿᵈ ᴵ ᵗᵉˡˡ ʸᵒᵘ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᵛⁱᵒˡᵉⁿᶜᵉ / ᵃˢᵏˢ

Portsmouth Shadows (snippet)
Raindrops pelted against the attic window as dark clouds hovered over the grand mansion. If Claire didn't know any better, she would have thought it was perfect weather for a somber funeral. The chilling and dreary atmosphere seemed to fit perfectly with the town of Portmouth, where death and despair were pervasive. Claire let out a sigh as she descended the creaky wooden stairs in her black dress and high heels. The sound of her shoes echoed through the old house, its floors worn down by time and previous owners' footsteps. Claire's blonde curls bounced gently as she made her way towards what felt like her own demise.
Labeling it as her doom may have been a bit dramatic, but how else could one describe the mandatory tea parties at Portmouth Hall? While the rest of the town saw it as a pleasant afternoon of tea and biscuits for the upper class, Claire knew that these parties were far from joyous. In fact, they felt almost like a strange ritual. Every detail was meticulously planned, from the clockwise or counterclockwise stirring of teaspoons to the exact type of cucumber sandwiches and sweet biscuits served. Claire had experienced one of these parties at a young age and learned firsthand just how rigid and structured they truly were.
A line of twenty women, all dressed in black like Claire, stood stoically in front of her. Each one holding a dagger tightly in their hands. Before Claire could react, they had all simultaneously slit their own throats. She ran back to her room, tears streaming down her face, and locked the door behind her. But a few moments later, her aunt Amelia entered and comforted her with cryptic words: “It's normal for us to reject the bond, my dear. It's not permanent, so don't be afraid.” At the time, Claire couldn't make sense of what her aunt meant, but now she understood. Every Halloween at Portmouth Hall, girls who were invited to the gathering would receive the mark of the bond and then die that very night. This was an attempt to prevent the dark lord from finding the one who would reject The Severing. After a mysterious amount of time, the wounds would heal and the girls would rise as if nothing had happened. But Claire knew it was only a matter of time before one girl woke up with the mark while all her friends' marks faded away. And every October 31st, she watched as another group of twenty girls went through The Severing ritual - slitting their throats and then waking up later with no memory of it. During this event, the other attendees were solemn and subdued - no tea or biscuits were enjoyed and there was no chatter among the women.
Nineteen other women stood with Claire in front of the fireplace, surrounded by crackling flames that devoured the logs. Claire couldn't help but stare at the mesmerizing display as she took a deep breath and turned to face the room. Soft murmurs filled the air, coming from the people seated at round tables draped in pale pink cloths. This year, Claire was one of the twenty chosen girls. She had been adopted into this family after her parents tragically died in a car crash. Her aunt Amelia, who always spoke of the legendary event known as The Severing, had taken her in. Many believed that Claire would be the one to reject The Severing and summon the dark lord.
The identity of the dark lord was unknown to her, and she couldn't comprehend why they would have to sacrifice themselves only to be brought back to life. Claire had never paid much attention to that aspect of the legend. What captured her imagination was the part where the dark lord emerged from the shadows and claimed his queen - a queen who ruled over both spring and winter. She often daydreamed about being swept away by him and spending eternity as his bride and queen.
Aunt Amelia straightened up, a perfectly coiffed bun holding her black hair securely in place. She wore a stunning emerald green dress that trailed behind her gracefully. As she approached Claire, her only niece, she smiled knowingly, aware of what was about to happen. Claire returned the smile, knowing that her aunt couldn't show any favoritism tonight, but feeling a sense of shared understanding. Turning to face the assembled guests, Amelia spoke with confidence and poise: "Welcome to Portmouth Hall for yet another year of celebration. Tonight, we honor the tradition passed down by our ancestors – The Severing!"
As the audience clapped enthusiastically, Claire could hear a few "hear hear" cheers adding to the applause.
Amelia's voice carried on, "As we are all aware, there can be no interference or interruptions during The Severing. These courageous women, standing behind me, will be breaking their bond with our enemy. After they emerge once more, we can all indulge in the mouth-watering cuisine and truly honor our Mother. But first, these women will descend into the Void before rising up again, renewed and rejuvenated!”
Again, the crowd applauded.
Claire's stomach twisted in knots as she watched a man, dressed as a butler, approach with a red velvet pillow. On the pillow rested twenty golden daggers, and one by one, each girl took one. When the butler came to Claire, she swallowed hard before reaching out her shaking hand to take a dagger. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes as fear rooted her to the spot; she wanted nothing more than to run away. She never wanted any of this. Amelia stood with open arms and commanded, "Sever!"
As she walked out of view, the girls all pantomimed slitting their throats in a macabre display. Claire hesitated, unsure of what to do. Amelia's expression was one of worry and panic rather than malice. The crowd began to whisper as Claire closed her eyes and mimicked the motion, "slitting" her throat as well.
As she hit the ground, life drained from her body. She wished she could glance over at Amelia and plead for it all to be a bad dream. But if she opened her eyes now, the ritual would be doomed. Tears streamed down her face as darkness consumed her, and Claire waited.
At first, nothing happened. Then, a figure appeared before her - a man with dark hair and flowing robes. He approached Claire and studied her intently. "Year after year, you have managed to evade me. Hide from me. Do you think I am a monster? That I enjoy causing pain?"
Claire felt a twinge of guilt for the man's suffering. "I'm sorry. I never wanted any of this." The man's expression softened in surprise. "This is a first..."
Claire cursed as she realized she was supposed to say something different, feeling flustered and caught off guard. The man before her smiled, remarking, "You're not like the rest." She averted her gaze to the floor, but he gently raised her chin and whispered her name, causing her heart to skip a beat.
A surge of energy yanked Claire out of the darkness, and she found herself in the grand ballroom of Portmouth Hall. She gasped for air and sat up, scanning her surroundings. The other girls had already reunited with their families, still drenched in blood. Amelia approached Claire, concern etched on her face. "You were gone for far too long," she said gravely. "What happened?" Claire furrowed her brow. "Nothing."
Amelia rolled up Claire's dress sleeve and exclaimed, "This can't be!"
The crowd fell silent, their eyes fixed on Amelia and Claire. On Claire's lower arm was a golden tattoo, swirling in intricate patterns as if painted by a skilled artist. Claire tentatively touched it and turned to her aunt, asking, "What is this?"
Amelia released a soft cry and turned to face the assembled group, her voice trembling as she announced, "We have a Rejection."
Audible gasps and murmurs rippled through the crowd. Claire rose to her feet, turning her gaze from her new tattoo to the onlookers.
Without warning, the candles flickered and went out as if a gust of wind had swept through the ballroom. Some of the women whimpered while others let out screams. Only the light from the fireplace remained, casting eerie shadows across the room. Claire's heart raced as she realized something was terribly amiss. In the dimness, she could make out the figure of a man - his golden eyes burning like fire. As he approached her, she felt an inexplicable force pulling at her soul. Trying to back away, Claire found herself trapped in his embrace as he whispered, "Don't be afraid, Claire."
Amelia took a seat, her face etched with fear and anxiety. In contrast, Claire began to ease into the man's embrace, feeling more at ease in his presence. It was the same man she had encountered during her time in the Void - the darkness. Her hand tentatively reached out to touch his cheek, a warm smile spreading across her lips. She couldn't explain it, but she felt a sense of trust towards him that washed away all the worries of the past few weeks. She now knew that the man before her was Hades.
Hades shifted his gaze towards Claire, still holding her tightly in his arms. "You have failed me this year," he declared. "I will take my leave with my new bride. Anyone who tries to stop us will meet their end."
Claire flinched at the final word and Hades gave her hand a reassuring squeeze as they stepped into the darkness. As she wondered if this was all there was, the shadows receded and revealed a looming mansion. It was not quite a castle, but definitely more than just a regular house. It bore all the markings of a grand estate: a true mansion.
Without much thought, she quickly recognized her surroundings. It was the very place that her aunt Amelia had often spoken of in her stories. She had always felt drawn to this place, even though she knew it would be years before she would end up here after living a full life. Claire had arrived in Tartarus, the home of Hades and his infamous three-headed dog Cerberus. However, only one head was present on the dog that towered over Hades himself. The massive beast playfully nudged its head against Hades' side, causing him to burst into laughter. Excusing herself from their embrace, Claire made her way towards the fountain at the center of the courtyard. "So this is Tartarus?" she asked aloud to no one in particular.
Hades looked at her, “No, this is home.”

The Relativity of Simultaneity
I have run into a lot of people who believe that "now" is relative, and that time is just a big block (so to speak). I question that. I believe that there is an objective present, and that things genuinely change (rather than spread out across a time-block / fourth dimension). I want to tackle one argument against my view.
Most people I know will cite the Theory of Relativity, which does (if 100% correct) lead to the fact that "now" is relative. The problem, though, is that this conclusion directly follows from the Theory's pivotal assumption that no frame of reference is preferred to any other. If there were such an "absolute" frame of reference, this relativity would not necessarily follow.
The reason the theory assumes that all reference frames are equally valid is that there is, in principle, no way to tell inertial reference frames apart. No one could possibly know who was stationary (if anyone at all). As a scientific theory, this makes sense. But this is just supposing a relational view of space; it supposes that there is no "absolute" position in space, and that it would be nonsense to refer to something as moving "absolutely" (only moving in reference to something else). I contend there are good reasons to think that there are genuine positions in space, and that there is absolute motion and absolute rest.
A good place to start is Kant's chirality argument. Take a hand. Any hand is either a left hand or a right hand. That must be in virtue of the relations of its internal parts (which we call "internalism"), its relation to other things (which we call "externalism"), or its relation to absolute space (which we call "absolutism").
Externalism, as a view, is right out. We can imagine that there is a hand floating all alone in space (being the only thing in existence). If a body were to materialize next to it, this hand would only match one hand of the body. Since nothing changed about the hand, it was left or right all along. (If you prefer, change the hand to any of a number of scientific processes which chirality impacts, and you get something which would show itself to be left- or right-handed without the need for anything else to come into existence.)
Internalism is tricky, as it requires that there exists some relations between the parts of the hand to determine its handedness. But this means that direction would have to be internally generated, and it's hard to see how we could come up with any directions (even "clockwise" or "counterclockwise") with just the features of the hand itself. It seems to me that we always need to compare it to something else to distinguish the left from the right.
So, finding both the above options implausible, I am forced to accept absolutism. But when I do, I am no longer persuaded by the Theory of Relativity, and chalk its relational space up to convenience for observation's sake.

The Writer's Self-Care Crawl
By: A.N_King
I know it can be hard to balance taking care of yourself while simultaneously trying to hit your word count goal, so I’ve put together this little self-care crawl! Enjoy!
[[**Note: This word crawl combines writing goals with stretching activities to help you ease into or out of writing! All stretches are written to be done standing, but can easily be modified for sitting as needed (just move forward to the edge of the seat to do so).]]
Ah yes. You sit down to write, ready to knock out your daily word goal. But first, provisions! Write 50 words as you check your area. Do you have water? Have you remembered to eat recently?
If not, get whatever you need and then return. Otherwise, continue…
Now we’re really ready to get writing, go ahead and write 200 words to settle into your writing time.
Oh. don’t settle in too much, you still need to mind your neck and shoulders. How about a couple of shoulder shrugs and some neck circles to straighten back up. (Remeber to spend time rolling your neck both clockwise and counterclockwise!)
Lovely, you seem about ready to go now I think! Let’s heat things up with a 15-minute sprint!
Beautifully done, but I’m sure you’re poor wrists must be tired after all that. Stretch your wrists out by holding your forearms out in front of you and slowly alternating the position of your hands from palm forward/fingertips up, to palm inward/fingertips down (think Thriller hands!). You can add a little extra stretch by gently pulling your fingers towards you with your other hand as you stretch.
Hopefully, your hands are happy with you again, because you’re in it for the long haul now. Write 500 words, as you remind yourself that slow and steady can still win the race.
I’m sure after all that you’re antsy to get out of that chair… so let’s work on a small flow! Stand up straight, and then allow yourself to fold forward at the waist, letting your hands hang down, and maybe even trying to touch your toes! Hold your forward fold for about 10 seconds, before sliding your palms up your legs to about your knees or thighs, straighten you’re back and keep your gaze down (flat-back position). From flat-back, slide back down to forward fold. Hold this for 10 more seconds, before slowly rolling up to a standing position. Stand tall, shoulders rolled back, and hands at your side (mountain pose) until you feel confident enough to dive back into this crawl!
Your word count should be doing nicely about now, and we’ll be sure to heat things back up soon. For now, why don’t you take a little break, and write 150 words.
Before we work on another nice long chunk of word count, let’s go ahead and do a few side stretches. Start with a gentle twist in each direction. Then stretch your arms up above your head, grab your left wrist with your right hand, and pull gently to the right (side-body stretch). Trade hands/sides and repeat.
We’re nearing the end now. Let’s make things interesting. Roll a dice. If even: write that number x100 words. If odd: write that number x200 words. (Kudos if you roll a dice with more than six sides!)
Now before we’re ready to wrap things up, let go ahead and repeat that flow we worked on earlier. Start in forward fold, holding for ten seconds before transitioning to flat-back. Hold flat-back for a few breaths, before letting your arms slide back down into forward fold. Hold for ten more seconds, and then roll slowly up, back into mountain pose. Hold until you start to feel good.
Time for our writing cool down. Round your word count up to the nearest 100. Add and extra hundred if you have to type less than 50 words!
Feel free to end this crawl with a few moments of deep breathing exercises, visualization of what should come next in your writing, or by making yourself a sandwich! You’ve done amazing, and both your wordcount and body thank you!

How to Solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube: A Step-by-Step Guide
Solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube is a fun and mind-bending journey that combines logic and patience. This guide walks you through the basic steps, focusing on rotations, algorithms, and methods to solve the cube. If you're eager to learn, this comprehensive guide is perfect for beginners. By mastering the techniques outlined here, you'll understand how to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube efficiently and effectively.

Understanding the Cube
Before diving into the solution, it's essential to understand the structure of the Rubik's Cube. A 3x3 Rubik's Cube consists of three types of pieces:
Centerpieces: These six fixed pieces represent the color of each face.
Edge pieces: These 12 pieces have two colors and are located between the corners.
Corner pieces: These 8 pieces have three colors and are located at the corners of the cube.
What are the Basic Rotations of a 3x3 Rubik's Cube?
Understanding the basic rotations of a 3x3 Rubik's Cube is crucial. The cube is divided into three layers: top (U for Up), middle (M for Middle), and bottom (D for Down). The faces of the cube are denoted as follows:
U (Up)
D (Down)
L (Left)
R (Right)
F (Front)
B (Back)
Each face can be rotated in three possible ways:
Clockwise (denoted as the letter itself, e.g., U).
Counterclockwise (denoted by the letter followed by an apostrophe, e.g., U').
180 degrees (denoted by the letter followed by the number 2, e.g., U2).
Mastering these rotations is the first step in learning how to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube.
Algorithms of a 3x3 Rubik's Cube
Algorithms are sequences of moves that manipulate the cube in specific ways. Here are a few essential algorithms:
Cross Algorithm: This helps in solving the white cross on the first layer.
F2L (First Two Layers) Algorithms: These algorithms solve the first two layers simultaneously.
OLL (Orientation of the Last Layer) Algorithms: These algorithms orient the last layer's pieces so that the top face becomes a single color.
PLL (Permutation of the Last Layer) Algorithms: These algorithms position the pieces of the last layer correctly.
Familiarizing yourself with these algorithms is vital for efficiently solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube.
Methods to Solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube
There are several methods to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube. Here are the most popular ones:
Layer-by-Layer (LBL) Method:
Step 1: Solve the white cross.
Step 2: Solve the white corners to complete the first layer.
Step 3: Solve the middle layer edges.
Step 4: Create a yellow cross on the top layer.
Step 5: Position the yellow corners.
Step 6: Orient the yellow corners to solve the cube.
CFOP Method:
Cross: Solve the cross on the first layer.
F2L: Solve the first two layers simultaneously.
OLL: Orient the last layer.
PLL: Permute the last layer to solve the cube.
Roux Method:
Step 1: Solve the first block (1x2x3 block).
Step 2: Solve the second block (1x2x3 block).
Step 3: Solve the top edges.
Step 4: Solve the remaining corners and edges.
ZZ Method:
Step 1: EOLine (Edge Orientation Line) - orient edges and solve the DF and DB edges.
Step 2: F2L - solve the first two layers using block-building techniques.
Step 3: LL - solve the last layer using algorithms.
Learning how to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube using these methods will significantly enhance your solving skills.
Tips and Tricks for Solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube
Practice regularly: The more you practice, the more familiar you'll become with the algorithms.
Learn the notation: Understanding the standard notation (R, L, U, D, F, B) is crucial for following algorithms.
Be patient: Solving a Rubik's Cube takes time and patience, especially when you're just starting.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Misalignment: Ensure that each move aligns the pieces correctly to avoid disrupting the solved parts.
Rushing through algorithms: Take your time with each step to avoid mistakes.
By following this step-by-step guide, you'll be able to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube efficiently. With practice and patience, you can master this classic puzzle and impress your friends with your skills.
Conclusion
In conclusion, learning how to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube involves mastering rotations, familiarizing yourself with essential algorithms, and choosing a method that suits your style. Whether you prefer the Layer-by-Layer method, the CFOP method, the Roux method, or the ZZ method, each approach provides a structured path to solving the cube. Happy cubing!

I completely agree anon! You took the words right out of my mouth. Even though I wasn’t a kaylor during lover era, I feel like this is the loudest she’s been since then just based off of the social media posts and kaylors’ tumblr posts from that time that I’ve seen. 🫚 mentioned “the split in the narrative” in one message which is likely another layer to the ✌️ like you said. And yes, it does seem that these 2 opposing narratives are meant to mirror each other.

For example, at the Paris night 4 show she did all the same things she did at the 8/9/23 show when she announced 1989 tv: 87th show, wore KC Chiefs colors (supposedly), looked up at where TK was in the stands the whole night, pointed to him, blew a kiss to him, sang the Alchemy and “karma is the guy on the Chiefs” towards the end of the show -> 8/9 show, wore the blue 1989 dress, looked up at where Karlie was in the stands the whole night, pointed to her, blew a kiss to her, sang betty directly to her and announced 1989 tv towards the end of the show and KK was a huge part of the 1989 era. But of course it’s only significant when she does it w a man. I think the purpose of doing this is to point out the double standards, heteronormativity, and homophobia in society. When two girls kiss they’re just gal pals having fun but when a guy and girl kiss everyone thinks they’re dating or married. "It's nice to have a friend."

This is why “perception is a thief bringing reality abare.” How you view her art—whether you view it through a straight or queer lens—determines the image you will see, much like an optical illusion. For example, is the woman in the gif below spinning clockwise or counterclockwise? Well it all depends on your preconceived notions and biases. As you keep looking at it, you may notice that she appears to change direction but this is actually just coming from your own perception. If you’re a gaylor you’ll notice the queer easter eggs. If you’re a hetlor you’ll notice the easter eggs pointing to her boyfriends. There are 2 completely different ways of viewing her music but that’s the whole point; she purposely weaves the truth between the lies. She’s an illusionist. I think this is the main idea 🫚 was trying to convey which is why they used the magic metaphor a lot.
I think it’s also significant that the first poem in For now, she slumbers is “Two” ✌️ as if to emphasize that the first axiom you have to accept abt Taylor is that she always pushes 2 opposing narratives simultaneously. Once you have accepted this fact everything else becomes crystal clear. “A box is a cube, Yet also a square.” -> If you view a box in 3D isometrically, it will look like a cube. But if you project a box onto a 2D surface, like by shining a light on one side and casting the shadow onto the wall behind it, it will look like a square. It all depends on your point of view.

My friends ❤️ I know the mood around here is down right now. That’s valid! I completely hear you. I know all too well how hard the heartbreak can hit having to watch the terrible stunting. Take a break if you need it. Take care of you always. But never lose your hope!!! Remember the end game!!! We’ve had so much movement forward since the release of Tortured Poets!
Maybe I’m too far down the 🐇🕳️ to be saved. But for reasons we can’t comprehend, the stunting and shenanigans still matter to her. I don’t want to be misinterpreted.. it’s SUCKY and we ARE hurt. I feel it too. But I have seen too much of the light coming through from the other side now. Between Robin and the 🎃 messages coming to fruition and the change in her Betty speech and the rainbow 1989 outfits and the lesbian flag colored Lover suit and all the ✌🏼 and Karlie telling us she’s in Paris and the Lover house falling like a facade.. we’ve been given a feast of clues in a world where we only get crumbs most of the time. She’s probably still going to stunt sometimes, and it probably will still sting. But 🎃 once said “The finish line is closer than it may appear. Transformation is imminent. Hold on to your blind faith a moment longer, now. And remember that reputation is illusion, expectation the magician.” Maybe my blind optimism is to blame, but this is real and we all know it. We can feel it! ❤️
Now - hear me out: 🫚 said “Five, six, Lay it on thick.” So for the months of May and June.. the stunting might be turned way up. But you know what else has been turned WAY up? The flagging to us!! From both Taylor and Karlie. This may even be why we’re still getting ✌🏼 from Taylor Nation, Karlie and Taylor. 2 story lines, 2 narratives being publicly displayed, 2 completely different sides of the story.. but only 1 that catches the public’s eye. An illusionist, if you will. I believe she created this narrative on purpose. When it’s a lesbian flag colored body suit and boots, it’s “just colors” but when it’s Red and Yellow in 1989, it’s “for Tr*vis!!” Interesting double standard set by TAYLOR herself. She IS the mastermind!! The time will come for us to finally win. I believe that.
I love you all and this community we share. Please take the time away if you need it. Come back when you’re ready. We will always be here! ❤️
I leave you with this: “One day, people will say you’re the lucky ones. All I can ask of you is this: To have an open mind, rolling new ideas over in your thoughts and keeping only what feels right.” 🎃

Vortex, Copper Engraving, Relief engraving, 2022. A vortex is anything that’s spinning clockwise, or counterclockwise. In this engraving, the parallels between a Cyclone and Chrysanthemum are examined. Both have a similar vortex pattern. The Cyclone is simultaneously printed in intaglio and relief. Ink is rubbed inside the engraved lines while in some areas the engraved lines are left inkless and the ink is rolled on top of the plate. Holy shit I just had a [lightbulb moment] revelation. My fascination with mirrors and clones in a gay context is because your clone or mirror self is simultaneously COMPLEMENTARY to your self (e.g. you’re positive and they’re negative / you’re clockwise and they’re counterclockwise / you’re active and they’re passive / etc) while also being‚ on a fundamental level‚ the SAME as you—sameness + complementary dynamics = the “essence” of gayness at its most compelling
